UK: in the 2024 national parliament election which took place in July, the First Past The Post electoral system produced a landslide victory for centre-left LAB (S&D), which won a large majority of constituencies in England, Scotland and Wales. Liberal LDEM (RE) gained seats across the UK with particularly high levels of success in the south of England, while left-wing SF (LEFT) won a plurality of seats in Northern Ireland. National-conservative CON~ECR was largely reduced to holding its core base in rural and less densely populated constituencies.

#EU27: Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Jaak Madison (*-ECR) joins the centrist KE (RE). This follows his move to leave the right-wing EKRE (PfE) after the party board expelled several key members ahead of the party’s leadership election in June. As a result of this move, KE (RE) holds two seats in the European Parliament for the first time since 2013.

During today’s press conference, the leader of KE (RE) Mihhail Kõlvart expressed that there is a dissonance between the manifestos of his party and the ALDE Party, claiming that his party is the closest to the policy platform of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR).
