Malachite is a mineral of group V (carbonates) according to the Strunz classification, with the chemical formula Cu2CO3(OH)2 (Copper carbonate dihydroxide (II)). It has 57.0% copper. Its name comes from the Latin malachites, alluding to its color. In ancient times it was used as a colorant, but today its use is more like a semi-precious stone.
The most important deposits of this mineral are in Colombia, Congo (Zaire), northern South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, Namibia, Hungary and the United States. From Geology World 🌼https://essentialorganics.me/🌼
