"Thx, I'm good" ๐Ÿง๐Ÿค”

Have you ever heard "I'm good" and wondered why the hell the person calls himself/herself a good boy?

This is actually a polite way to decline an offer or indicate that you don't need anything. It's typically used in responses like:

๐Ÿ’“When your granny offers you another salad:

"Would you like some Olivier?" โ†’ "Thank you, I am good."

๐Ÿ’“When someone asks if you need help:

"Do you need any help improving English?" โ†’ "Thank you, I am good."

The phrase combines gratitude ("thank you" for the offer) with a decline ("I am good" meaning "I'm fine/satisfied/don't need that"). It's considered more polite than simply saying "no" because it acknowledges the person's kindness in offering.

The Italian Man Who Went to Malta ๐Ÿ”ซ What could go wrong, right

Did you miss our pronunciation series? Let's see what went wrong in the video

TRANSCRIPT
One day, I'm going to Malta to book a hotel. In the morning, I go down to eat a breakfast. I tell the waitress I wanted two pieces of toast. She brings me only one piece. I tell her, "I want two piece." She said, "Go to the toilet." I say, "You don't understand. I wanted two piss on my plate." She said, "You better not piss on the plate, you son of a bitch!" I don't even know the lady, and she calling me a son of a bitch.

Later, I go to eat at a bigger restaurant. The waitress brings me a spoon and a knife, but no fork. I tell her, "I wanted the fork." She telling me, "Everyone want to fuck." I tell her, "You don't understand. I want fuck on the table." She say, "You better not fuck on the table, you son of a bitch!"

So I go back to my room in the hotel, and there is no sheets on the bed. Call the man and tell him, "I want a sheet." He tell me to go to the toilet. I say, "You don't understand. I want shit on my bed." He say, "You better not shit on my bed, you son of a bitch!"

I go to the checkout, and the man at the desk say, "Peace on you." I said, "Piss on you too, you son of a bitch! I'm going to back to Italia. I leave today."

๐Ÿ“ŒMisunderstanding No 1: Two Pieces of Toast

What the Italian man wants to say: "I want two pieces" /tuห หˆpiหsษชz/

What he actually says: "I want two piss" /tuห pษชs/

The confusion: "pieces" /หˆpiหsษชz/ โ†’ "piss" /pษชs/ (urine)

The Italian accent drops the final syllable and shortens the vowel

๐Ÿ“ŒMisunderstanding #2: Fork

What the Italian man wants to say: "I want a fork" /fษ”หk/

What he actually says: "I want to fuck" /fสŒk/

The confusion: "fork" /fษ”หk/ โ†’ "fuck" /fสŒk/

The Italian accent may pronounce "fork" with a shorter vowel and less distinction between /ษ”ห/ and /สŒ/

๐Ÿ“ŒMisunderstanding #3: Sheets

What the Italian man wants to say: "I want a sheet" /สƒiหt/

What he actually says: "I want to shit" /สƒษชt/

The confusion: "sheet" /สƒiหt/ โ†’ "shit" /สƒษชt/

The Italian accent shortens the long vowel /iห/ to short /ษช/

๐Ÿ“ŒMisunderstanding #4: Peace

What the receptionist says: "Peace on you" /piหs ษ’n juห/ (a blessing/greeting)

What the Italian man hears: "Piss on you" /pษชs ษ’n juห/ (urinate on you - an insult)

The confusion: "peace" /piหs/ โ†’ heard as "piss" /pษชs/

Same vowel length confusion

๐ŸชดKey Phonetic Patterns:
๐ŸซงLong vs. Short Vowels
๐ŸซงFinal Consonants and Syllables: Italian words typically end in vowels, so Italian speakers may drop or reduce final consonants
"pieces" /หˆpiหsษชz/ becomes "piss" /pษชs/

Guys, you may genuinely just want some clean sheets (shits) and peace (piss). Please work on your vowel length!

PS: you know the friend who will enjoy this and the admin who will enjoy +1 reader. You can make the magic happen ๐ŸŒˆ

๐Ÿงธ Please DON'T make these 14 Freudian typos today

Typos are a real plague. @ybeymlina can't count the number of times she signed off as ยซะ‘ะปัยป instead of ยซะฎะปั,ยป which put her relationships to a test.

14 Typos We've Seen With Our Own Eyes: how many corporate cliches have you guessed behind the typos?

1) "Dead Sir" > "Dear Sir"

2) "I hope all is hell" > "I hope all is well"

3) "Keep me in the poop*" > "Keep me in the loop*"

4) "Massage me when you're free" > "Message me when you're free"

5) "Hoe* can I help you?" > "How can I help you?"
6) "Best Regrets" > "Best regards"

7) "Good morning Madman" > "Good morning Madam"

8) "Have a lonely weekend" > "Have a lovely weekend"

9) "Good moaning*" > "Good morning"

10) "Please lick the link" > "Please click the link"

11) "Hope this message finds you in a well*" > "Hope this message finds you well"

12) "Hell to all" > "Hello all"

13) "Kind retards*" > "Kind regards"

14) "As per my precious* email" > "As per my previous email"

TOP 3 Struggles "PitchUp" members face while delivering their speech:

1. Fillers (not Botox!)
2. Signposting ๐Ÿšฆ
3. Intonation

Read more about them in the images โฌ†๏ธ

Notably, despite facing the 3 issues above, "PitchUp" founders, PMs, and top managers already speak English waaayyy more expressively than Nik Storonsky. For reals. Which makes me incredibly happy.

Soon, we'll will share with you 3 simple exercises that help with these 3 issues - stay tuned and share with your friend chat.
