A quantum computer has managed to crack a cryptographic key — though a simplified one

Engineer Steve Tippekonnick shared the results of the experiment. To attack a 6-bit key, he used IBM’s 133-qubit Torino processor.

The algorithm executed a quantum circuit of 340,000 layers and successfully derived the private key from the public equation.

Some experts believe that major blockchains are safe, since Bitcoin and Ethereum, for example, use 256-bit keys rather than 6-bit ones. Others argue that breaking them is only a matter of time.

Impressive art in the form of Lichtenberg Figures

Lichtenberg figures are the name given to the distribution patterns of spark channels that are formed on the surface of a solid dielectric during a spark discharge of a sliding nature. In principle, such figures can be used to determine the strength of a lightning discharge and polarity, and can be turned into a creative act. Lichtenberg gave the world interesting visualizations of current flow during discharge.

⚡️ Carbide tungsten drill bits

These drill bits are usually used for special friction drilling, which is considered the cleanest and fastest method of drilling.

Generally, friction as a property has become firmly embedded in the industrial manufacturing world. Drilling, welding, wonder what else we can do with this physical property.

Charle's law or Gay-Lussac's second law
is one of the basic gas laws describing the relationship between pressure and temperature for an ideal gas.

The formulation of Charle's law is as follows: The pressure of a gas of fixed mass and fixed volume is directly proportional to the absolute temperature of the gas.

⚡️AI hacker inside a USB cable

Palisade Research built a $200 “hacker cable” that loads an AI agent onto your computer the moment you plug it in.

🔌 The agent scans your system, sends data to GPT-4, gets instructions, and hacks autonomously.
💸 Attack cost: under $1. Development time: one week.

AI agents are faster than humans, smarter than scripts — a new kind of cyber weapon. What’s crude today could soon become invisible, cheap, and everywhere.

Every USB port may turn into an AI-powered entry point.

🖲 Orbiforms are figures with a constant width curve or Reuleaux polygons

These aesthetically pleasing metallic figures appear angular. But if you put any flat flat surface on top and start moving it, it will move parallel to the table surface.

The magic of surface tension 🔮

The glass is full to the brim with water. Carefully add more and more water, but the water doesn't come out. Throw a coin, increasing the volume of liquid, but it does not come out.

It won't come out because water has a property of surface tension: water bends in an arc, but it won't come out.

Elon Musk: if 10x compute ≈ 2x intelligence, AI is on a Kardashev trajectory, harvesting the sun and then the galaxy.

For now, he predicts:
- 2026: AI smarter than any single human
- 2030: AI smarter than sum of all humans

Meanwhile, human intelligence stagnates as birth rates fall.

Am-241 in the Wilson chamber

When americium nuclei decay, they eject a high-speed chunk of protons and neutrons (2 each) called alpha particles.

Which then travels through the air, creating a trail of ions, bouncing electrons off any neighboring molecules it passes by.
