His resignation was then announced, and it will be up to the President to accept or reject Draghi's resignation - which could lead to an election in September

If the government crisis can't be resolved quickly, Mattarella could pull the plug on Italy's Parliament - setting the stage for an election as early as September.

Estonia’s government crisis peaked in June when Kallas kicked the left-leaning Center Party out of the two-party government coalition. The conflict arose due to disagreements over spending and welfare policies at a time of booming household costs due to high inflation.

The inflation rates in Estonia are among the highest in Europe, reaching 22% in June, based on Eurostat information.

Estonian President Alar Karis signed the resignation request asking Kallas to form a new government which could start working quickly.
