Update on Amara 💛 from Trisha last night! 💖✨😇

This morning we got some really encouraging news. Amara’s blood counts are looking incredible, she has high energy, and a very big appetite (which feels like such a huge win after months of watching her barely pick at food).

We were even able to get her into normal clothes today, and she spent time coloring and playing ☺️ Seeing her do normal kid things again feels so good.

Her labs today:
• ANC: 410
• Hemoglobin: 11.4 (went back up on its own!)
• Platelets: almost back within normal range

I spoke with the infectious disease doctor again today. He apologized for all of the different answers I’ve been receiving and really took the time to explain everything clearly. He said that her immune system starting to do its job again is going to help her just as much — if not more — than the antiviral medication.

The current plan is to check her CMV level again on Monday. If the virus is undetected, they will be able to stop the IV antiviral and send us home with oral maintenance medication. If the levels are still present, we will likely be here at least another week while they continue treatment and recheck weekly.

Please continue to pray that everything keeps moving in the right direction so we can hopefully get home sometime next week. The CMV test takes a few days to come back, so we will definitely still be here past Monday.

As for me, my CMV labs came back about an hour ago, and from what I understand, they show a past infection, but not an active one — thank goodness for small miracles.

We are so grateful for the care we’re receiving and for everyone who continues to check in, pray, and support us through this. 💛
