Tonight’s operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was carried out by the U.S. Army’s 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta (1st SFOD-D), known more commonly as Delta Force, according to CBS News.

In a short call earlier with the NYT’s Tyler Pager, President Donald J. Trump celebrated the success of tonight’s mission to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. “A lot of good planning and lot of great, great troops and great people,” he said. “It was a brilliant operation, actually.” President Trump added that more would be revealed in the morning during the press conference from his Mar-a-Lago Resort in Florida, which is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EST.

The U.S. Justice Department has unsealed an indictment in the Southern District of New York filed against Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife and other officials in the Venezuelan Government, with charges including “Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices.”

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has release a statement following last night’s U.S. military operation which resulted in the arrested of Former President Nicolás Maduro, with her calling for Edmundo González to be sworn-in as the President of Venezuela and Commander-in-Chief.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump stated that “we” are going to run Venezuela until there can be a “safe, proper and judicious transition,” though does not say how that would be enforced by the United States.

Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is expected to be transferred from the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Eastern Cuba, before being flown on a private jet with FBI to New York City, according to ABC News.
