U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) has announced and published footage of several strikes carried out earlier today, December 15, by military forces under Joint Task Force-Southern Spear (JTF-SS), against three alleged narco-trafficking vessels operating within international waters in the Eastern Pacific. According to SOUTHCOM, the vessels were transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and carrying illicit narcotics, with a total of eight males killed as a result of the strikes, three in the first vessel, two in the second, and three in the third, all suspected to have been members of a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO).

According to an exclusive report published by The Washington Post, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine, along with other senior officials at the Pentagon, are preparing a major plan to present to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in the coming day, which would see the downgrade of several of the U.S. Armed Force’s Unified Combatant Commands and a shift in the balance of power among its top generals, as part of a consolidation previously sought by Hegseth and other members of the Trump Administration.

If adopted, the plan would usher in some of the most significant changes at the military’s highest ranks in decades, which would include reducing in prominence the Headquarters of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), U.S. European Command (EUCOM), and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), by placing them under the control of a new organization known as U.S. International Command (INTERCOM). In addition, the plan also calls for realigning U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) and U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), which oversee military operations throughout the Western Hemisphere, under a Combatant Command to be known as U.S. Americas Command (AMERICOM).

Traders on Polymarket do not appear confident that renewed hostilities between Thailand and Cambodia will cease by the end of the month, with only a 36% chance of a ceasefire between the two countries by December 31, 2025. This is despite President Trump claiming last week that the the Prime Minister of Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to an “immediate halt in the fighting,” a halt which has so far not materialized, as skirmishes continue along the Thai-Cambodian Border.

Vanity Fair today published a series of extremely unusual and candid interviews with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, that were recorded by author Chris Whipple throughout the first year of the second term of President Donald J. Trump, during which she stated Trump “has an alcoholic’s personality.” Vice-President JD Vance has “been a conspiracy theorist for a decade” and his conversion from Trump critic to ally was based not on principle but was “sort of political” because he was running for Senate. Elon Musk is “an avowed ketamine” user and “an odd, odd duck,” whose actions were not always “rational” and left her “aghast.” Russell T. Vought, the Director of Management and Budget, is “a right-wing absolute zealot.” And Attorney General Pam Bondi “completely whiffed” in handling the Epstein Files.

Wiles said that she tried to get President Trump to end his “score settling” against political enemies after his first 90 days in office, but acknowledged that the administration’s still ongoing push for prosecutions has been fueled in part by the president’s desire for retribution against those he believes wronged him in the past, stating that he is not constantly thinking about retribution, but “when there’s an opportunity, he will go for it.” Additionally, Wiles acknowledged that Trump was not telling the truth when he accused former President Bill Clinton of visiting the private island of the sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.
