Prayer to the Blessed Virgin
O BLESSED Virgin, Mother of God, and by this august quality, worthy of all respect from men and angels, I come to offer thee my most humble homage, and to implore the aid of thy prayers and protection. Thy intercession is most powerful, and thy goodness for mankind on earth, is equal to thy influence in heaven. Thou knowest, O blessed Virgin! that I look up to thee as my Mother, my patroness, and my advocate: I acknowledge with humble gratitude, that thy virtues singled thee out for the mother of our Redeemer. GIVE me, I beseech thee, O Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, that powerful grace which converts the stony hearts of mortals into burning furnaces of love. By Thy grace, free my captive soul from the thraldom of every evil habit and concupiscence, to restore to it the holy liberty of the children of God. Give me to taste how sweet it is to serve the Lord and crucify the flesh with its vices and concupiscences. Enlarge my heart that I may ever cheerfully run the way of Thy commandments until I reach the goal of my aspirations, the joys and bliss of Thy habitation in heaven. Amen.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN ARROW PRAYER
Jesus is God! Alas! they say
On earth the numbers grow,
Who His Divinity blaspheme
To their unfailing woe.

In 1843, the “GOLDEN ARROW” PRAYER was dictated by Our Lord Himself to Sister Mary of St. Peter, a Carmelite nun, in Tours, France. Just as sins of blasphemy were like a ‘poisoned arrow’ continually wounding God’s Heart, Our Lord said “This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully, and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy.”
Then, in 1844, Sister Mary of St. Peter was given a vision in which she saw the Sacred Heart of Jesus delightfully wounded by the “Golden Arrow” Prayer, as torrents of graces streamed forth from His Heart for the conversion of sinners. Our Lord revealed to her the inseparable connection between honouring the unutterable name of God through the “Golden Arrow” Prayer and venerating the Holy Face of Jesus.

Just as sins of blasphemy were like a ‘poisoned arrow’ continually wounding God’s Heart, Our Lord said “This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully, and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy.”
Then, in 1844, Sister Mary of St. Peter was given a vision in which she saw the Sacred Heart of Jesus delightfully wounded by the “Golden Arrow” Prayer, as torrents of graces streamed forth from His Heart for the conversion of sinners. Our Lord revealed to her the inseparable connection between honouring the unutterable name of God through the “Golden Arrow” Prayer and venerating the Holy Face of Jesus.

Say this prayer often, to console Jesus, Our Lord and God. It is the central prayer in the Devotion to The Holy Face.

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in Heaven, on earth and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
