LITANY of HUMILITY Novena
Day 1 - February 17th
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being honored,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

A poor Clare nun who had just died, appeared to her Abbess, who was praying for her, and said to her, "I went straight to Heaven, for, by means of this prayer, recited every evening, I paid all my debts."
PRAYER for DAILY NEGLECTS
Evening
ETERNAL FATHER, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.
First, to expiate all the sins I have committed this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Second, to purify the good I have done poorly this day and during all my life. Glory be.
Third, to supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and during all my life. Glory be.
Act of Contrition.

INVOCATION OF
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS
TO THE CROSS
Crux mihi certa salus.
Crux est quam semper adóro.
Crux DÓMINI mecum.
Crux mihi refgúium.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The Cross is my sure salvation.
The Cross I ever adore.
The Cross of my LORD is with me.
The Cross is my refuge.
His Holiness, Pope Pius IX, by an autograph rescript, June 21, 1874, granted to all the faithful who, with at least contrite heart and devotion, shall say these prayers, drawn up in the form of a cross by the Angelic Doctor, S. Thomas Aquinas :
AN INDULGENCE OF THREE HUNDRED DAYS, once a day.
~ The Raccolta (1878)
To read the Crux Angelica, begin at the center ‘C’, following the word ‘CRUX’ up, down, left or right. You will find one prayer in each direction, which repeats on each line, sharing letters at the end with the previous or next line; the text continues across the top, bottom and sides of the Cross. Although it may seem confusing at first, once you see the pattern, it is indeed quite remarkable.

Spiritual Communion
AT Thy feet, O my Jesus, I prostrate myself and I offer Thee repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness and in Thy holy presence. I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, the ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling that my heart offers Thee. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental communion, I wish to possess Thee in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, since I, for my part, am coming to Thee! May Thy love embrace my whole being in life and in death. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee.
Amen.

Christ permitted Himself to be tempted by Satan. Why, then, should we be surprised if we have to struggle against the malice and snares of the devil! Our strength to resist lies in fasting, in guarding and controlling our senses, in almsgiving, in prayers, and in uniting ourselves with Christ in Holy Mass and Communion.

Matt. 4, 1-11. At that time, Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit, to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, “If Thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Not by bread alone does man live, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took Him into the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If Thou art the Son of God, throw Thyself down; for it is written, ‘He has given His angels charge concerning Thee; and upon their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest Thou dash Thy foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “It is written further, ‘Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’” Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. And he said to Him, “All these things will I give Thou, if Thou wilt fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Begone, Satan, for it is written, ‘The Lord thy God shalt thou worship and Him only shalt thou serve.’” Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
