Iceland’s Power Lines Reimagined as 150-Foot Steel Giants

Architects turned ordinary pylons into monumental works of art.

What if power lines weren’t eyesores—but icons?

That was the vision behind The Land of Giants, a breathtaking concept by Choi+Shine Architects that reimagined Iceland’s power infrastructure as towering steel figures striding across the landscape.

Instead of rows of plain gray pylons, these 150-foot (45-meter) giants would stand like monumental sculptures—walking, crouching, or bowing as they carried high-voltage lines through mountains and valleys. With only minor adjustments to traditional steel tower design, the team transformed practical infrastructure into public art.
