Rudolf Koller (1828-1905) - animalist and master of landscape, one of the most prominent Swiss painters of the XIX century. His work is based on the realist style of Gustave Courbet and Camille Corot, the romantic Düsseldorf school of painting and the plein air traditions of the Barbizon school. Koller is considered Switzerland's finest animal painter.
