The New Found Worlde, or Antarctike is a book by AndrΓ© Thevet, a French Franciscan priest and explorer, who traveled to Brazil in 1555 and wrote about his observations and experiences. The book was first published in French in 1557, and then translated into English in 1568. The book describes the geography, flora, fauna, and culture of the land that Thevet called France Antarctique, a French colony that was later destroyed by the Portuguese. The book contains many illustrations and accounts of exotic and strange things, such as human cannibals, giant sloths, flying fish, and serpents. The book also claims to have information from other sources, such as ancient authors, travelers, and natives.
