🖍 🇷🇺 🚀 Conquerors of outer space - our art for Cosmonautics Day

On April 12, we want to remember those who daily try to move forward the most important and one of the most technologically advanced industries.

Anyone who has ever heard the roar of engines and seen a rocket going into the sky knows perfectly well what a colossal work is behind this spectacle. Hundreds of designers, designers, systems engineers, machine operators, testers and a host of other specialists from dozens of enterprises are working on sending the device into space.

The importance of this activity is difficult to overestimate. Right now, the Russian space constellation, to the extent possible, provides the Russian Armed Forces with communications, navigation and images in different spectra. And at the last frontier are the devices of the missile attack warning system.

Today, Russian cosmonautics faces many challenges. The development of a line of new launch vehicles is still on paper, there are difficulties with the electronic component base, and the manned PTK has turned into a uniform long-term construction.

But even in recent years, there have been striking successes: the launch of the Spektr-RG telescope, the science module Nauka to the ISS, the first devices of the Sphere system and other series, a record series with more than 100 accident-free launches in a row. And in the summer, it is even planned to send the Luna-25 automatic station to the Moon.

You have to fly into space. This is our future.

🇷🇺 🛰️ Today, another launch of the Soyuz 2.1v launch vehicle with a military spacecraft took place from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. So far this year, 8 out of the 19 Russian space launches were for the Ministry of Defense.

Usually, the defense department does not disclose the specific devices launched into orbit for obvious reasons. However, based on indirect signs, it is believed that some of them were new generation reconnaissance satellites.

📌 Describing the state of the military space group for remote sensing of the Earth at the beginning of 2022 is difficult without using censored words. The shortage (or rather, almost complete absence) of such spacecraft became evident in Syria, and unfortunately, the situation has not improved over the years. This has severely impacted the reconnaissance capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces during SMO.

However, there has been some improvement over the past two years. It is reported that spacecraft from the "Hrazdan" and "Bars-M" series have been deployed in orbit. While their individual characteristics may not match those of modern Western analogues, they are still clearly superior to the outdated Russian and Soviet spacecraft previously used by the Russian Armed Forces.

Nevertheless, there is still much work to be done, from space reconnaissance to the establishment of a communications constellation capable of high-speed data transmission. Without these capabilities, operating successfully in high-intensity conflicts is currently difficult, and in the future, it will be impossible.

🇷🇺🇺🇸🛰️ Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder stated that on May 16, a spacecraft was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, which most likely represents an anti-satellite weapon. It is now in orbit, where the American reconnaissance satellite USA-314 is located.

As reported by Reuters, this is a new Russian so-called "inspector satellite". According to open sources, their tasks include observing other spacecraft with the ability to make direct contact with them. However, the functionality of such devices may be even greater.

📌 By the way, this is far from the first domestic inspector satellite: according to data from specialized Western resources, since 2013 Russia has launched at least four such spacecraft into orbit, one of which (Cosmos-2542) carried another small device. They also carried out observation of elements of the US space grouping.

Against the backdrop of the militarization of space and especially the recent successes of the United States in this area, the development of countermeasures is becoming particularly relevant. The very fact of work in this direction indicates that certain Russian circles take the threat seriously. Which is pleasing to see.

🇮🇷🇷🇺🛰 Recently, Iranian media reported that Russia may provide support to the Islamic Republic in launching space vehicles into low-Earth orbit. According to preliminary information, the launch is scheduled for October from one of the Russian cosmodromes.

The matter concerns two Earth remote sensing satellites - "Hod-Hod" and "Kosar", manufactured by local private contractors. Officially, both will be intended for use in agriculture, geodesy, border demarcation, as well as the "Internet of Things" (IoT) and crisis response.

📌 Iran's interest in such cooperation with Russia is understandable: its own space program, despite certain achievements, cannot boast of great successes, and problems with launch vehicles have led to accidents. Previously, the Iranians have already resorted to the services of Roscosmos, in February launching the "Pars-1" satellite into orbit.

Overall, both countries benefit - in return for assistance with the launch of space vehicles, Russia may receive a wide range of goods from a certain range of military products to parts for civilian airliners. And in general, this contributes to the further deepening of bilateral cooperation.
