🇺🇦🧒🇪🇺Refugees from Ukraine complain that their children get taken away in the EU countries

The publication “Zerkalo Nedeli” followed the story of 18-year-old Lyudmila Koltunovskaya. Social services motivated taking away her baby by stating that “the mother treats the child coldly.” In her case, the baby was later returned through the court with the condition of maintaining advisory support.

Her lawyer Marina Semenova stated that Lyudmila Koltunovskaya’s problem is not isolated; in her legal practice, there were similar cases in Estonia, Denmark, Poland, and Germany. Children are taken away from their parents under various pretexts or are not allowed to leave the EU.

“I cannot clearly name the reasons for this phenomenon, but, undoubtedly, it looks like Europe is interested in keeping Ukrainian children,” says the lawyer. — The most common reason for refusal to release a child from the EU to Ukraine is war. This mainly affects the children who were taken to the EU after the start of the full-scale invasion.

As for children born to Ukrainian women in the EU with temporary protection status, behind the scenes lawyers say that this is the third case of children being taken away from their mothers directly in maternity hospitals.”

🇺🇦🇪🇺 "Western politicians, with their populism, have led the public to fatigue from the conflict in Ukraine," - Financial Times

Western leaders have convinced citizens that resolving the Ukrainian conflict is "easy" and quick, as long as they provide weapons and financial support to Kiev.

The author mentiones the EU's inability to fulfill its promise of supplying 1 million artillery shells to Kiev due to limited production capacities.

FT also notes an "obvious shift" in the Western discourse, with an increasing focus in Western media on internal political disputes in Ukraine and a negative perception of Zelensky.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Last night Ukrainians launched a drone raid on several regions of Russia.

In Morozovsk airbase in the Rostov region most of them got shot down, but some managed to penetrate tha air defense and cause minor damage to parts of the airfield.

In the photo is a Su-34 bomber who seems to have been protected from the fragments by a thick ice layer.

🇮🇶🇸🇾🇹🇷 Turkish troops are continuing their operations in Syria and Iraq. Currently, there are no conditions for the start of the ground phase, and their activities in the border areas mainly consist of regular artillery attacks on the strongholds and positions of Kurdish groups.

🔻In northern Syria, the Turks have reduced their use of artillery in recent days. Near Manbij, Turkish troops targeted several strongholds of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

However, the intensity of these attacks has decreased. This is likely because the Turkish Armed Forces have been rotating their units since December 13. Just two days ago, 196 military personnel arrived in the occupied territories, and the rest are expected to be replaced by December 18.

🔻In Iraq, the situation is different: there has been an increase in missile attacks on the northern regions. Over the past five days, Turkish aircraft, including fighters and drones, have conducted four operations to target PKK hideouts.

It cannot be said that the effectiveness of the Turkish actions has increased in any way. However, it has been noted that they do not require this. Under the pretext of counter-terrorism, the Turks have tested four types of ammunition from the Akıncı, namely Teber-82, MAM-T, MAM-L, and MAM-S.

🇲🇲 What's happening in Myanmar?
Situation as of December 17, 2023

In Myanmar, the intensity of fighting has slightly decreased due to an agreement on a temporary ceasefire. However, fights are still ongoing in some areas. Clashes have been observed in five states of the country over the past two days.

🔻In Shan State, militants from the Taang National Liberation Army successfully raided the Namkama area. They captured three military personnel and seized small arms and ammunition.

However, government troops in the state bordering China have taken the initiative. They are launching mass attacks on militant positions in Namsang, Muse, Kutkan, and “105 Mile,” using both artillery and Mi-35P helicopters.

🔻Intense clashes are ongoing on the border of the Sikaing and Mandalay states. Members of ethnic groups are attacking Myanmar military positions near Chang U, Naipukone, and Madai. According to the latest data, seven servicemen have already died.

🔻In southern and southwestern Myanmar, militant groups unsuccessfully attempted to occupy several government installations in Rakhine and Pegu states. They attacked government troops in Mraw U and Pyu. In Maungdaw, the Myanmar Armed Forces targeted a cluster of Arakanese.

Attempts (primarily from the PRC) to calm the warring factions have not yet produced the desired results. Clashes are still ongoing, although with less intensity. However, even this increases the chances of partially extinguishing the conflict and getting closer to resolving disagreements.
