Today is a day of special significance for our country, especially now - the day of fallen journalists. There is no doubt that our war correspondents are the best in the world. And there is plenty of evidence, as in the 90s in #Chechnya, in the 10s in #Syria and, of course, in the vast expanses of the SMO. It's important to understand that a military correspondent is not about "getting behind the tape to take pictures", it's about arrivals, injuries and rarely, but death. One should not pay attention to the long absence of losses on the information front of the struggle for truth, it is compensated by exceptional professionalism of our journalists.
⚔️ The Situation on the Fronts in the outgoing Day
♦️#Svatovo - #Kremennaya Direction:
The AFU militants attacked in the direction of #Sophiyevka #LPR, but the Russian army, supported by army aviation and heavy flamethrower systems, destroyed the enemy group. The Ukrainian army also launched several counterattacks in the areas of #Ploshchanka, #Golikovo and #Kremennaya #LPR, but all Nazi attacks were stopped by army aviation strikes.
♦️#Artemovsk (#Bahmut) Direction:
"The orchestrators are advancing on the eastern outskirts of #Artemovsk. Fighting is taking place in the industrial zone and on the outskirts of the city. Fighting continues in the town itself on Fyodor Maksimenko Street and in Pervomaysky Lane. Also, units of the Wagner PMC are breaking through the development in #Opytnoye. In addition, the clearing of #Yakovlevka, which was liberated a week ago, has been completed, opening another route to #Soledar.
♦️#Ugledar Direction:
The AFU moved reserves to #Dobrovolye #DPR, but they were destroyed by Russian army strikes. Also, two Ukrainian SRGs were destroyed near #Pavlovka.
💥 The Russian Aerospace Forces in the Yablonovka region of the DPR shot down an Ukrainian MiG-29, as well as an enemy Mi-8 in the #Nikolaevka region of the #DPR.
💡 The frantic battles of the summer of 2014 were remembered by the residents of #Donbass, as was the landmark event of that period - the battle for #Shakhtyorsk. The city became the scene of a fierce battle between the #Donetsk militia and Ukrainian paratroopers. What exactly happened in the city is described in our story.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦⚔️ Situation in the #Soledar Direction until 12:00 on 2 Jan 2023⚡️
🩸Heavy fighting continues in the vicinity of #Bakhmut (#Artyomovsk) and #Soledar. The AFU are trying to stop the advance of the RF Armed Forces and intends to conduct combat reconnaissance in the industrial zone to determine the frontline of the Russian military's defences.
♦️#Bakhmut Area:
▪️ The AFU forces of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade attempted to retake positions on the southeastern outskirts of #Bakhmut. The attack was repulsed and the Ukrainian militants withdrew with losses.
The 57th Brigade spreads information about large losses in the compound's 17th Battalion - only 100 men left. On 16 January, the 17th Separate Pontoon Bridge Battalion, which had previously withdrawn to #Konstantinovka, will be disbanded and its personnel will be transferred to other units.
In addition, the formations previously operating in the #Kherson direction have arrived in Chasov Yar. The transferred units will become part of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the AFU after a short harmonisation phase.
▪️ Northeast of #Bakhmut, the Wagnerians have taken control of two platoon strongholds near #Podgorodnoye as well as seven fire positions northwest of the #Bakhmut - #Soledar line.
▪️ In the southwest, the assault on the AFU fortified area at #Kleshchiyevka, held by combined units of the 24th and 63rd Mechanized Brigades as well as the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, continues. During the fighting, Russian forces have taken another stronghold under theit control.
▪️ Engineer units of the 28th Mrchanized Brigade are equipping the second line of defence in the #Ivanopol region in case the line in #Kleshchiyevka is breached.
♦️#Soldar Section:
Wagner PMC assault troops are advance on #Soledar from the direction of #Bakhmutskoye and #Yakovlevka. Active fighting led to the takeover of two company strongholds and five observation posts of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade and 61st Mechanized Brigade of the AFU.
▪️ At the same time, the advance towards #Razdolovka and #Veseloye continues. To deter the offensive, the AFU engineering units have set up minefields in the centre of #Veseloye, while artillery crews are shelling the southern outskirts of the village and #Yakovlevka.
🩸 In total, over the AFU have irretrievably lost more than 200 people to fighting and artillery strikes in the last two days. In addition, a depot near #Yablonovka, where AFU members were also staying, was hit by artillery.
Units of the Ukrainian National Guard from the #Sumy Region are expected to be moved to #Bakhmut to compensate for the losses. The distribution of diesel generators donated by the USA as part of military assistance has begun in #Konstantinovka.
