🤯 Arkham revealed the largest crypto theft in history - 127.426 BTC for $3.5b at the 2020 exchange rate (now ~$14.6b).

At the peak in 2020, the Chinese mining pool LuBian controlled almost 6% of the hashrate of the Bitcoin network. But in December of the same year, it was hacked:

⊹ December 28 - hackers withdrew more than 90% of BTC from wallets.
⊹ December 29 - another $6m was stolen in BTC and USDT through an address in the Bitcoin Omni network.
⊹ December 31 - the remaining funds were transferred to backup wallets.

LuBian tried to contact hackers through OP_RETURN messages in the blockchain - 1516 transactions and 1.4 BTC went to requests to return assets.

No one reported it publicly - neither the company nor the attackers.

The reason for hacking is a vulnerable private key generation algorithm that can be brute-forced.

All stolen BTC are still stored in one address - it is the 13th largest BTC wallet in the world.

🇺🇸 The SEC simplifies the accounting of stablecoins in the United States.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission allowed companies to account for fully secured stablecoins (e.g. USDC, USDP) as cash or its equivalents.

What does it mean:
- Stablecoins can now be reflected in the balance sheet as «cash».
- This applies only to dollar tokens with a guaranteed redemption right.
- The asset must be fully secured and have no volatility.

The SEC wants to simplify the work with crypto for banks, fintechs and companies until the full GENIUS law is adopted, which will completely ban unauthorized stablecoins in 3 years. In the meantime, there are temporary rules.

🇺🇸 Donald Trump’s advisor intends to increase Bitcoin to $10,000,000.

David Bailey, Trump’s crypto advisor and founder of Bitcoin Magazine, plans to create a political committee (PAC) with a budget of $200,000,000 to promote BTC in the United States.

PAC tasks:
➥ Bring the price of BTC to $10,000,000.
➥ Lobby for the abolition of income tax on BTC.

How it works:

✦ USDC issues Circle, and Coinbase simply accrues «rewards» without calling them interest.

✦ PYUSD releases Paxos, and PayPal allegedly only «provides access to the program».

The ban applies to issuers, not platforms that issue remuneration on behalf of partners or from profits on placed assets.

Critics believe that «yiel» and «remuneration» are the same, but legal wording allows you to circumvent the law.
