Developers from Anza (Solana Labs division) presented an update to Alpenglow for a complete rework of the basic network protocol.
What changes:
⊹ Instead of the TowerBFT consensus, Votor will appear - a system with parallel voting and finalization of blocks in 100-150 ms.
⊹ The new Rotor protocol will replace Turbine - it will accelerate the distribution of blocks and reduce the load on nodes.
The purpose of the update — is to radically increase the speed, scalability and reliability of the Solana blockchain.
