The Cost of Following Jesus---

Following Jesus is NOT always easy or comfortable. Often it means great cost and sacrifice, with no earthly rewards or security.

Jesus did not have a place to call home.

You may find that following Christ costs you popularity, friendships, leisure time, or treasured habits.

BUT----while the cost of following Christ is high, the value of being Christ's disciple is even higher. Discipleship is an investment that lasts for an eternity and yields INCREDIBLE rewards.

In Matthew 5:11-12 Jesus says,
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

In the future God will reward the faithful by receiving them into his eternal kingdom where there is no more persecution.

I don't know about you, for me what I endure here is worth an eternity of rewards in heaven

Heavenly Father,

We often wonder especially when times get tough, when the valley gets deeper, when things get a little darker when or where will my help come from. We need look no further than to God. He always provides exactly what's needed exactly when it's needed. Where will your help come from today? Look to the heavens and seek Him for great is your reward when you look to Him first!

2 Timothy 4:2-5

2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.


Heavenly Father,
Your compassions never fail and are new every morning. Thank You; we sing Your praises!
Please forgive us our sins, and help us to forgive others. Father, we ask You confuse false teachers, and remove our itching ears. Open our understanding to Your truth, meet our needs as we live through trials, and guide us as we live out the assignments You’ve called for each of us. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

What an incredible and awesome verse this is. It’s Galatians 2:16 and if you believe it - it will set you free from all legalism and self righteousness.

Remember, His great Gospel flowed in the veins of our Messiah Jesus and when he offered himself upon that cruel cross
, He did so to save you and I because there was no other way for us to be forgiven
but by faith in him alone. Echoing the prophet Habakkuk 2:14, “the just shall live by faith.”

Jeremiah 29:8-13
