In a recent study, scientists used #Landsat data to document wetland loss in Louisiana.

Between June and Sep. 2021, before and after Hurricane Ida, they found that land loss occurred along most of the southern-facing shorelines of the Barataria Basin.

RT @NASAEarth: Using #Landsat data from 2000-2022, scientists found that Louisiana’s wetlands are disappearing.

The main cause was damage from Hurricanes Katrina (2005) and Ida (2021), along with oil and gas exploration, oil spills, rising sea levels, & land subsidence. https://t.co/qts2IOiIGC https://t.co/nUC8MNQef8
