The DNA of Russia is still expansion and imperialism.

The driver of Putin is Russkiy mir — Great Russia — which basically means one Russia, one language, one religion, and one leader.

I think he still sees the collapse of the Soviet Union as a big travesty.

If the Russians were honest with themselves, none of their strategic goals have succeeded.

Putin wanted to take over Ukraine — he made Ukraine European.

He wanted to split NATO — he actually got two additional members, Sweden and Finland.

He wanted to split the transatlantic partnership; that hasn’t happened.

He wanted to split Europe — it’s more united than ever.

He wanted to keep defense expenditure down — we’re now all going to five percent.

Things are not going his way.

This guy is playing people for fools. This isn't diplomacy, it's stupidity.

He’s a T-Rex: you either meet him head-on or he devours you, one way or the other.

They need to stand tall, stand firm, and stand united.

You’re still playing by a rulebook that no longer applies.

He’s unmoored. This is the law of the jungle — the rule of raw power.

They shout “Allahu Akbar.” We say “Long live the Kurd and Kurdistan.”

We are greater than God.

We are stronger than death.

On both sides of the Atlantic, a trade war will cost jobs. On both sides of the Atlantic, it will damage the economy.

And as much as we must therefore warn against it, just as much must we now also stand firm on what we are made of in Denmark, in Greenland and in Europe.

Because what we are in, it is about much more than ourselves. We can negotiate on everything political: security, investments and economy.

But we cannot negotiate on our most fundamental values: sovereignty, our countries' identity and our borders, our democracy.
