NEW: As part of the ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas, US and Egyptian security contractors are checking Palestinian vehicles travelling from the south to the north of Gaza, a Palestinian security official said.

The contractors are responsible for ensuring that vehicles do not carry weapons when passing through the checkpoint.

Last October, it was leaked that Israel was considering hiring a US-based PMC for biometric screening of Palestinians in Gaza, and Erik Prince's Constellis was mentioned.

US defense giant General Atomics fears competition.

General Atomics CEO Linden Blue sent a letter to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, co-head of the Department of Operational Guidance and Efficiency aka DOGE, tasked with streamlining U.S. government operations.

“Bureaucratic delays have allowed Türkiye, China, and Israel to dominate the UAV market,” Blue stated.

Blue highlighted Türkiye’s UAV development, sparked by denied U.S. drone requests in the early 2000s, leading to the domestically produced Bayraktar TB2 and ANKA, now exported globally.

Blue emphasized that slow decision-making in the U.S. has given rivals like Türkiye a significant advantage globally, adding:

“Delayed policies opened opportunities for competitors, limiting U.S. R&D and production investments.”

Blue criticized the current system:

“Nobody is ultimately accountable for achieving strategic objectives related to selling defense articles to allies.”

NEW: Clashes between M23 and the Congolese army continue in Goma city centre. According to reports, several more coalition soldiers were killed in the clashes.

Dozens of Romanian mercenaries stranded in Congo due to M23 attack

A group of Romanian origin mercenaries has been stranded in northern Congo during a major offensive by the M23 rebel group, the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) has confirmed in a press release.

According to PressOne, the Romanian mercenaries were allegedly hired by Horațiu Potra, an associate of pro-Russian politician Călin Georgescu. They were sent to Goma to establish government control.

The Romanians are reported to be mercenaries hired by the Congolese government. They are in the city of Goma in the North Kivu province of the African country, which borders Rwanda and Uganda.
