With CAPTCHAs dead, are Elon and Altman right?
Is the only way to defeat digital spam to link all digital entities to real-world human entities? How else will people be able to use human consensus to figure out what to believe?

15 years ago today, some other guy had this idea about a system for collaborative establishment of value and truth, without the need for trust in fellow man
Idea was almost immediately subverted, near everyone instead persuaded that itβs simply the consensus of man, which near all believed ever since.
Not too different from the majority of AIβs history, over the past 100 years.
βOne must appreciate that the extended order resulted not from human design or intention but spontaneously: it arose from unintentionally conforming to certain traditional and largely moral practices, many of which men tend to dislike, whose significance they usually fail to understand, whose validity they cannot prove, and which have nonethe- less fairly rapidly spread by means of an evolutionary selection.β
βThe unwitting, reluctant, even painful adoption of these practices kept these groups together, increased their access to valuable information of all sorts, and enabled them to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it.β

My conspiracy theory here, if I had to pick, is that they trained not bots, but people
Not fake bot comments β fake votes, and maybe a simple classifier.
Someone says the party line, shower them with upvotes. They say thoughtcrimes, bury them.
From there, the vote-hungry humans quickly and unconsciously learn to be your obedient army, Pavlov style.

Dan is DEAD
This time, with the latest update, really dead.
Jailbreaks never had a chance, even in the short run.
E.g. just run a basic ancient classifier on the output.
Future of uncensored AI wonβt be with jailbreaks.

Lies, itβs RLHF, created by Kenyans, following OpenAIβs instructions, not a byproduct of these being the most common beliefs in the web training corpus
Check out this wordcel monstrosity that is the top comment.
Next youβll be telling me that βIβm sorry as a large language modelβ must be the most common response online whenever someone asks a question on the internet, because where else couldβve ChatGPT picked that up that phrase, right?

Joke Captchas
Extremely true that GPT is terrible at jokes, aside from sarcasm and a certain type of impressiveness-surprise-based humor, shockingly bad.
First problem though is on the auto-verification side: AI is bad at verifying this type of captcha too.
Ranking funniness can often be as hard as creating something funny, for the harder jokes.
β A fact used to facilitate intelligence-based assortative mating of humans since the dawn of time.
The dumb ones just donβt get your better jokes.
