WOW!!! I did not recall that my former friend, Katie Couric, was with Chuck Schumer at the 2016 Al Smith Charity Dinner!!!

I appeared on the Today Show 28 times a few years ago to advocate for various clients in the court of public opinion. Over the years, I thought Katie and I had become friends. I have not heard from Katie since 2020.

The United States Supreme Court in the 1991 decision in Gentile v. State Bar of Nevada held that a lawyer’s duties do not begin inside the courtroom door. The Court recognized that a lawyer has the right and duty to defend a client’s reputation in the court of public opinion, especially in an efforts to prevent an unjust prosecution.

I love the First Amendment and I have decades of experience in exercising my God-given right of free speech to defend my clients, including when I am representing myself as co-counsel.

At the appropriate time, I will remind the State Bar of Georgia and a certain list of lawyers of my First Amendment rights as a citizen and my duties as a lawyer.
