🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situation on the Dobropolye direction, Donetsk Oblast: Over the last 10 days, Russian forces continued their offensive operations on Dobropolye, where they have made new advances in multiple different areas, while carrying out deep infiltrations behind…
🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situation on the Dobropillya direction, Donetsk Oblast:

Over the last three weeks, the situation has sharply deteriorated for Ukraine, as Russia makes a series of tactical breakthroughs into the most heavily defended sector of the frontline.

In the southwest, Russian forces continued clearing the salient west of Grishino, advancing further west north of the highway. Other assault groups advanced south of Mirnoe, entrenching in the forested gulleys, and infiltrating further west along the southern bank of the Grishinka River.

To the northeast, the Russians improved their positions north and northeast of Vasylovka, continued fighting for Mirnoe, and captured a large number of treeline positions southwest of Shevchenko. Some infiltrators have managed to reach the southern approaches to Novogrishino and Matyashevo.

These attacks are being carried out in coordination with a large-scale operation from the east, which has resulted in Russia breaking through Ukraine's main defences east of Svetloye, and gaining a foothold in the northeastern part of the town. Heavy fighting is now underway for Svetloye and neighbouring Vodianskoye, where the grey-zone has been significantly expanded. Additionally, some Russian soldiers are infiltrating north into the villages of Chernigovka (Krasnoyarskoe) and further west from there into Krasnopodolye.

To the northeast, Russian forces cleared the fields east, northeast, and southeast of Belitskoye, before entering and capturing the majority of the city. From there, they are attempting to capture the Belitska Mine and support operations in Chernigovka (Krasnoyarskoye) from the east. Fighting continues with some partially-isolated Ukrainian formations in the southwestern part of Belitskoye.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situation south of the city of Druzhkovka: Gruzskoe-Raiskoe-Nikolaevka area Satellite images of the Donetsk region, taken on August 7, 2026, by the Sentinel satellite—under cloudless weather conditions—enabled analysis of multiple front-line sections…
🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situation on the Druzhkovka direction, Donetsk Oblast:

Russian commanders achieve a significant tactical breakthrough after more than a year of stalemate on this sector

Over the last few weeks, Russian forces have significantly intensified their assault operations southwest of Druzhkivka, capturing seven different villages.

In the west, Russian forces captured the tactical heights north of Toretskoye after months of fighting. This, combined with the clearance of the remaining northern part of the village, allowed Russia to break through Ukrainian defences on the heights to the north and capture large swaths of the forested gullies south of Gruzka River.

To the east, Russian forces cleared the villages of Novopavlovka and Pavlovka, which were previously in the grey-zone, and used them to advance further north up the eastern bank of the Kazeny Torets River. They were able to village hop, capturing Priyut, Torskoye, and then Toretskoye, before infiltrating east into the villages of Petrovka and Raiskoye. Additionally, some assault groups crossed the Kazeny Torets River and captured Krasny Kut.

This puts Russian troops less than 4 miles (~6 km) southwest of the city of Druzhkovka.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Russian units achieved another breakthrough up north in the Volchansk-Prykolotnoye sector in Kharkov.

Russian commanders launched a two-pronged attack aiming to cut and encircle a Ukrainian salient in Kharkov Oblast.

As a result of recent advances, they captured the villages of Artyolnoe, Ustinovka, Ivashchino, Anishchino, Shevyakovka, Zibyno, Karaichnoye, Volcha, Lyman, and Volokhovka, and are now engaged in fighting for Volokhovskoye, Zakharovka, Ivanovka, Vasylovka, Vodyanoye, Olkhovatka, Dovzhanka, and Kupino. Forward assault groups from the two pincers are currently just 8 km from cutting off the large Ukrainian salient.

However, the main target of this offensive may be the town of Prykolotnoye, which hosts the main highway intersection, and is responsible for most logistics in this sector. It's fall would make defending the Bely Kolodez direction much more difficult.

When overlaying this on a topographic map, we can see that Prykolotnoye is situated on one of the highest points of the tactical heights, overlooking the surrounding low-lying ground near the international border.

Not only is it a crucial logistical hub, but it also serves as key tactical highpoint. Although, if Ukraine withdraws from the areas north of it before the town falls, its worth as a logistical point will be significant diminished until Russia can capture it and transform it into their own logistical hub.

🇦🇪🤝🇮🇷 The UAE has released several billion dollars of Iran's frozen assets held in UAE banks, including 2 tonnes of gold worth $283 million, with the goal being that Iran spares the UAE from future attacks, according to multiple senior sources in Tehran with knowledge of the transfers.

The assets were flown to Iran aboard a Boeing 737-7KK (A6-RJA) operated by UAE Royal Jet, from Abu Dhabi to Tehran's Mehrabad Airport and Karaj's Payam Airport on August 11 and 12, each staying one hour before returning.

On June 8 the same plane flew from Abu Dhabi to Tehran's Mehrabad transferring $3 billion, multiple Iranian officials told Reuters in June.

❗️🇮🇷/🇺🇸/🇹🇷 NEW: During President Trump’s return flight from the NATO summit in Ankara to the UK last month, an Iranian assassination plot was foiled that has been downplayed by the White House, the Washington Post reports The threat of an Iranian assassination…
🇮🇱⚔️🇹🇷 Israel was behind the intelligence report which claimed there was a "serious" Iranian assassination threat to Donald Trump during the 2026 Ankara NATO Summit

The Wall Street Journal writes that the CIA didn't believe the Israeli intelligence report but the U.S. Secret Service wanted to take "no chances".

The WSJ citing U.S. intelligence officials wrote that the Israelis passed the report to the U.S. president not because it was true but because they wanted to sour relations between Trump and the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is a rival of Israel.

The WSJ noted that the Israeli report "fit a broader pattern" which sought to influence (manipulate) Donald Trump's decision making rather than simply being informative which is the real purpose of an intelligence report.

🇮🇷⚔️🇺🇸📝: How does the loss of the U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf hinder the U.S. Navy's ability to maintain ships deployed in the Arabian Sea for long periods of time?

The US Navy and US Fifth Fleet are operating a fleet of about 20 ships in the northern Arabian Sea centered around two carrier strike groups - Lincoln and Bush - and an amphibious ready group - Boxer.

The loss of access to bases in and around the Persian Gulf means that all the food have to be procured either from local sources in and around the Indian Ocean, or brought in from East Asia.

To replenish the ships at sea with food, there are four ships available: USNS Arctic, Cesar Chavez, Wally Schirra and Alan Shepard. Some of these ships departed from bases in East Asia over a month ago.

Food, depending on the type, has specific shelf life. The Navy is well aware of this. Nuclear submarines load up all the food they need for months when they deploy. Surface ships have the advantage to receive fresh food on a more regular basis.

However, because of the number of ships on station, the limited number of store ships (four), and the elongated distance from supply sources, means that the food onboard ship will be of the type that can be stored, frozen or preserved for long duration. This means less fresh fruit & vegetables, or milk (butter there is good old fashion nuclear milk - if you know, you know).

What this story tells us, is that we need more logistics to keep our Navy at sea in a contested environment. In 2015, the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command re-introduced the concept of commercial shipping transferring fuel to Navy underway replenishment ships.

What we have lost are the commercial ships that can transfer dry stores and ammunition to restock.

Currently, the four stores ships have to shuttle between bases to the forward deployed fleet.

Remember, deployed warships are not cruise ships in the Caribbean. This does not mean we cannot do better, but admirals never like to prioritize and fund logistics over warships.

🇺🇸 🇯🇵 🇨🇳 US and Japan advance plans for the world's deepest undersea mine to break China's rare earth monopoly:

▪️Targeting deposits 6km underwater near Minamitorishima
▪️Reserves could meet "centuries of industrial demand"
▪️Testing scheduled for 2027-2028

Beijing currently controls roughly 90 percent of global rare earth production and has previously choked off exports to both Washington and Tokyo during geopolitical spats.

"Minamitorishima is an ambitious project, but one that could enable Japan and the U.S. to possess a fully closed-loop, mine-to-magnet rare earths supply chain, helping to break China's leverage over them,” said William Chou, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute.

Japan plans a month-long extraction and refining trial for February 2027, targeting a full commercialization strategy by 2028.

🌎♨️ This "Super El Niño" will be perhaps the strongest in 500 to 1000 years, and could legitimately be the most extreme global weather or climate event experienced by humanity since the invention of the printing press. Only more extreme situation is a volcanic…
🌎♨️ A record El Niño will act like a climate time machine.

It will help push global temperatures in 2027 to levels that otherwise might not be expected for another decade or so.

Next year has a 95 percent chance of becoming the warmest year on record, with the average global temperature anomaly currently predicted to reach +1.76°C.

That would be about 0.29 degrees Celsius higher than what’s expected based on the warming trend of the past decade.

The middle 50% of global temperature forecasts for 2027 range from 1.67°C to 1.85°C above the preindustrial average.

Under these scenarios, temperatures would jump 7 to 13 years ahead of the recent warming trend, reaching levels that might otherwise become typical around 2040.

These temperature increases will also have consequences for water vapor.

Because the water vapor-carrying capacity of air increases at a rate of 7% per degree Celsius, it’s possible — if not likely — that 2027 also sets a new global moisture record.

But this El Niño isn’t just going to be strong.

Boosted by the planet’s long-term warming trend, it’s probably going to dwarf the six strongest that came before it in 2015, 1997, 1982, 1972, 1888 and 1877.
