"The Strait of Hormuz will not open until the United States changes its behavior and accepts Iran's conditions.
The United States must end the war, release Iran's blocked funds, and in general, the war must end throughout the region, including Lebanon and Gaza, and other conditions that have been conveyed through intermediaries.
If an agreement is reached between Iran and Oman regarding the passage route in the Strait of Hormuz, this agreement will be separate from the issue of closing the Strait of Hormuz." - Tasnim

New rules are driving down irregular arrivals and boosting returns.
According to news reports, Migration Minister Thanos Plevris points to the broader European shift toward stricter policies.
Migration Minister Thanos Plevris detailed the impact of the country’s new strict rules (detention for most economic migrants, 2–5 year prison alternative to voluntary return, fast-track processing).
Key results so far (according to the reports):
• Arrivals from the Egypt-Libya route fell from 3,200 in H1 2025 to 802 in H1 2026
• Returns on that route jumped from 69 to 330
• Overall returns up 40%
• Aegean arrivals down 65% in early 2026
Plevris credits the broader European shift toward tougher policies partly to the change in U.S. direction after 2024

Amid the chaos, militias grew in wealth and power, particularly in Tripoli and the western part of the country.
Mohamed Bahroun's militia clashed with rivals in the city of Surman last week as the warlord seeks to consolidate his power amidst a threat of pacification from the GNU.
Bahroun who also goes by the nickname "Al-Far" or "the Mouse" was an ally of another Libyan warlord, Salah Badi, one of the key anti-Gaddafi warlords who made a name for himself in 2011 when his militiamen captured the city of Misrata from the Gaddafi loyalists. Badi fought to keep Gaddafi loyalists out of politics which triggered the 2nd phase of the Civil War in 2014, with Badi siding with the Government of National Accord (GNA) which later became the GNU in 2022.
Badi had many enemies inside the GNA as well whom he viewed as too lenient towards Gaddafi's loyalists and the LNA Commander-in-Chief, Khalifa Haftar. The GNA is notoriously weak and has relied for years on warlords like Salah Badi for security. This led to constant strife amongst warlords in a fight for favoritism from the central authority in Tripoli.
When the United Nations installed the current Government of National Accord in 2016, Badi was against it. That year, he led militias “in repeated attempts to remove power from the GNA” and restore a separate government unrecognized by the international community, the U.N. Security Council said when it placed sanctions on Badi in 2018. Badi again attacked the capital in 2017 with tanks and heavy artillery.
The GNA, led by Prime Minister Fayez Serraj, has relied heavily on militias for its security. Today, some of those armed factions control key ministries, banks and businesses. At least 115 people were killed during a month of attacks, mostly civilians. The U.S. Treasury Department, in imposing sanctions on Badi, said his forces fired Grad rockets into heavily populated areas. Badi denied the allegations.
In 2019, Badi's militia joined forces with the other GNA warlords to repel an LNA offensive on Tripoli however, as soon as the LNA was repelled, the alliance between the warlords broke down and since 2020, the GNA was marked by short bursts of violence between warlords over territory.
Mohamed Bahroun is picking up from where Badi left off. He is wanted by the Tripoli government for the 2024 assassination of Abdulrahman Salem Milad "Al-Bidja", the chief of the GNU Coast Guard based in Zawiya and there are rumours going on of the GNU preparing a major operation to subdue Bahroun's troublesome militia.

Drone strike sparks massive blaze at Libya’s Zawiya refinery
Firefighters are battling the remains of a massive fire at an oil facility in western Libya after a drone hit a fuel tank.
🇩🇬 🇺🇸 🇮🇷 Drone Sightings Are Happening At Diego Garcia, America’s Remote Strategic Island Outpost
The sightings highlight concerns about drone attacks from the sea, especially at a time of extreme hostility between Iran and the U.S.
Drones of an unknown origin were reportedly sighted over the remote joint U.S.-U.K. Diego Garcia installation located deep in the Indian Ocean. As we have frequently reported, this island base has long been a highly strategic operating location for the U.S. military. Beyond its large airfield that has been an epicenter of bomber operations over the decades, it plays many roles for the Pentagon. These include hosting Space Force operations, serving as a key port for U.S. Navy vessels, including nuclear submarines, and its lagoon provides shelter for a Sealift Command Prepositioning Ship Squadron.
The installation was targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles during the Epic Fury operation, but the threat posed by drones is even more plausible for the island outpost, especially at this extremely tense time as the standoff between the U.S. and Iran grinds on.
The issue of reported drones over Diego Garcia highlights a plausible threat of sea-launched drones that TWZ has been drawing attention to for years now. It also again raises concerns about the danger to critical infrastructure and aircraft parked in the open at Diego Garcia and many other U.S. installations. This is another issue TWZ has been highlighting for years.
“We are aware of reported sightings of drones (UAS) over Diego Garcia,” the U.K. Defense Ministry (MoD) told us Monday morning. “We are unable to provide any details about a situation which may affect the security or operation of the joint U.K.-U.S. base on Diego Garcia.”
“The U.S. and U.K. Commanding Officers on Diego Garcia consider and implement appropriate measures to ensure the security and safety of the base and the safety of the personnel on the island,” MoD added.

🇩🇬 🇺🇸 🇮🇷 Amid reports that Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean has imposed a curfew for U.S. and UK Servicemembers, due to the possible threat of unidentified drones seen flying recently near the base fuel farm, the Facebook group “Air Force amn/nco/snco” has published the hours of operation for a number of base amenities during the curfew, which begins every night until further notice at 1800.

📝 🇮🇷 🇺🇸 In the later stages of the war the Iranians used drone swarms deployed near American aircraft to feed intelligence on their movements to teams on the ground firing surface-to-air missiles which successfully shot down an F-15. The tactic appeared to have been learnt from observation of the Ukraine war:

📝 🇱🇾 The GNU contemplates a large-scale military incursion into Zawiyah, ostensibly to pacify the tribal city of 250,000.
Regardless of how horrendous the violence in Zawiyah has been these past years, the city is *not* a cluster of purely local enmities.
Zawiyah’s energy complex (refinery, export terminal, power plant) and its illicit-economy routes are of nationwide consequence.
Every faction of any weight inside Zawiyah maintains close ties to other factions across the rest of Libya.
Any bid to subdue Zawiyah from outside, through a massive application of force, would therefore mobilize every group that stands to lose should the Dabaiba camp succeed, setting off a contagion of violence well beyond the city limits. And one city almost adjacent to Zawiyah is Tripoli itself.
If the GNU goes all in, what it will get will *not* be what it hopes for.
