🛤 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 The construction of an 80km railroad in Donetsk Oblast, approximately initiated around June 2023, aimed to establish a direct link between occupied southern Ukraine and the rest of Russia as a partial alternative to the Crimean Bridge. | Tatarigami UA

🔶️ "According to Mariupol mayoral advisor Petro Andriushchenko's statement on May 8th, operations are expected to commence by late May or early June. Additionally, in April and early May, three test trains traveled from Volnovakha in Donetsk Oblast to Mariupol's port and back."

🔶️ "Based on mid-resolution imagery, it's evident that on May 24th, at least one train was traveling on the new railroad. With the aid of satellite imagery captured with a time gap, we confirmed that the train was in motion and not static."

🔶️ "The current resolution does not allow us to determine whether it was another "test" train or if it's a train involved in railroad construction. However, based on other high-resolution imagery, we assume that this is the very final stage before its launch."

🔶️ "Our team assesses that this new railroad would suffice to supply the region even if the Crimean Bridge is destroyed. Additionally, the railroad reduces travel time from Russia. For more details on the impact and deeper assessment, refer to our latest report on our website."

🇺🇸🤝🇲🇩 Moldovan president, Maia Sandu:

From a total dependence on Russian gas, today we buy natural gas from several sources, including the US. We are building power lines to connect us to the European grid, and one of them is funded by the US Agency for International Development, and we are investing in renewables. Our goal is to overcome Moldova's vulnerability in this field, to have stable, accessible and sustainable sources of electricity.

🇨🇳🇺🇸🇹🇼 The Americans continue to feed Taiwan promises of imminent deliveries of advanced weapons.

This time, the visiting Republican Michael McCaul stated that the delayed deliveries of American weapons "are progressing", hinting at their imminent arrival.

📌 It is officially unknown how much weaponry has not reached the island. The Cato Institute think tank reports that the sum of the stuck deliveries is approximately $19.1 billion. Some orders have been "hanging" for about 10 years. The main reasons for the current situation are supply chain problems, the pandemic, and the Ukrainian conflict.

▪️ But McCaul's statements are most likely an exaggeration. During his visit in 2023, he said roughly the same things, but there were no significant changes in weapons deliveries.

▪️ Of course, there is now a chance for improvement, but given the ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, it still remains minimal.

🔻 The amusing part here is that today McCaul called on the island's authorities to increase the military budget. This, in his opinion, is necessary to protect Taiwan from aggression by China.

After increasing the defense budget, it seems that new orders for American weapons are expected. And the main thing here is to get the money for them. And the issue of the lengthy delay in weapons deliveries can be dealt with later.

"The Great Replacement in Florida"

Before the passage of the 1965 immigration act the White share of the population of Florida was increasing.

Whites had risen substantially from 72% of Florida's population in 1940 to a peak share of 82.1% by 1960 as Whites flooded into the state and a population boom began.

Then, with the passage of several immigration related bills, Reagan's amnesty, and the general promotion of immigration, the trends reversed.

As of 2020 White Floridians have fallen to just 51.5% of their state's population.

The foreign-born population exceeds 22%, and nearly 90% of these immigrants are non-White.

Still, Florida could change its policies and cease welcoming hundreds of thousands of new foreigners each year.

Through a coordinated and state implemented program of policy changes Florida's Whites could increase to a 63% share of the state's population once again.

🐣 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 How the far right is winning over young Europeans

🔶️ German youths are increasingly worried about the economy and immigration.

🗳 Such a trend will loom large over the European parliament elections, where many young people will vote for the first time. Current polling suggests up to a quarter of seats in the new legislature will go to the populist right, up from a fifth in 2019.

💉 The shift to the right was clearly visible in the latest instalment of an annual survey of German youth. It was a snapshot of a generation that was badly shaken by the Covid-19 pandemic, with its lockdowns and school closures, and was then forced to wrestle with the shockwaves of war in Ukraine, inflation and the continuing climate crisis.

📊 The survey also shows that for young people, worries about climate change have been supplanted by more bread-and-butter concerns — the dire shortage of affordable housing, the fragility of Germany’s pension system and fears of poverty in old age.

🇪🇺 From Spain and Italy in the south to Romania in the east, rightwing parties are benefiting from this new mood of gloom. In Romania, 25 per cent of 18 to 35-year-olds who intend to vote say they will support the far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians, a higher proportion than for any other party. AUR wants to unite all Romanian speakers — for instance those in Moldova — into a Greater Romania. It is critical of Bucharest’s military support for Ukraine and rails against “gender ideology” and atheism.

🔶️ Russ, the youth-wing leader, says Germans are plagued by a “lack of identity”. “People have become a kind of empty shell, they no longer see themselves as part of something larger, as part of the German Volk, and that’s a really big problem,” he says.

🇩🇪 Krah has a video on TikTok, entitled “Our ancestors weren’t criminals”, that makes precisely this point. “We have every reason to be proud of our country and the people who built it up,” he says into the camera.

🗳 🇵🇸 🇮🇱 Benny Gantz’ party submits bill to dissolve “Israeli” parliament, hold early elections

🔶️ The National Unity party, which the “Israeli” war cabinet member Benny Gantz is a member of, has said that it submitted a bill to dissolve the Knesset and called for early elections.

🔶️ The Likud Party of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed the call as unnecessarily disharmonious and damaging to the war effort.

🔶️ “In the midst of a war, Israel needs unity, not division. The dissolution of the unity government is a reward for [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar, a surrender to international pressures and a fatal blow to the efforts to free our abductees,” the Likud said in a statement – cited by “The Times of Israel”.

🔶️ The decision comes as “Israeli” war cabinet has been facing growing tensions since Oct. 7, 2023; particularly between Gantz and Netanyahu on various topics, mainly the lack of a “day-after” plan for the Gaza Strip, in addition to disagreements on engaging Hezbollah on the northern front.

🇵🇸 🇮🇱 💵 Israel’s 2025 budget in the hole as Gaza war cost to reach $70bn

🔶️ The chief of Israel’s central bank said on 30 May that the cost of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip will amount to nearly $70 billion of the Israeli budget for 2025.

🔶️ Manuel Trajtenberg, a professor from Tel Aviv University’s economics department, warned that Israel “may slide back into another lost decade” if it does not lower its defense-spending-to-GDP ratio, referring to a period of economic decline following the 1973 Arab–Israeli war after which Israel spent years trying to balance between its defense and development spending as a result of the costs of that war on its economy.

🔶️ The central bank chief’s comments came a day after Tzachi Hanegbi, head of Israel’s National Security Council, said that another seven months of fighting is expected to take place in the Gaza Strip, where Tel Aviv has yet to achieve its stated goal of eradicating Hamas and returning its captive prisoners.

🔶️ Additionally, Hezbollah’s war on the Israeli north and Yemen’s campaign against Tel Aviv’s maritime interests have played a role in the economic decline Israel faces.

🏹 🇺🇸 🇺🇦 Pentagon Opens Ammunition Factory to Keep Arms Flowing to Ukraine

🔶️ The factory will soon turn out about 30,000 steel shells every month for the 155-millimeter howitzers that have become crucial to Kyiv’s war effort.

🔶️ Ukraine fired between 4,000 and 7,000 such shells daily for several months in 2023, according to NATO’s secretary-general, before infighting among House Republicans held up further funding for Pentagon arms shipments. Large shipments of American artillery ammunition resumed in April after Congress passed an aid package that included $61 billion to Ukraine.

🔶️ To keep Ukraine’s artillery crews supplied, the Pentagon set a production target last year of 100,000 shells per month by the end of 2025. Factories in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, Pa., together make about 36,000 shells per month. The new General Dynamics facility in Mesquite, Texas, will make 30,000 each month once it reaches its full capacity.

🔶️ The 100,000-per-month goal represents a nearly tenfold increase in production from a few years ago.

🇳🇮🇨🇳 China seeks gold in Nicaragua, receives 13 concessions in 190 days

China is gaining large areas for metal mining in Nicaragua at an accelerated pace. In six months, between October 2023 and April 2024, three Chinese companies have received thirteen mining concessions. The sum of these thirteen lots granted is equivalent to 11.66% of the total number of hectares granted for metallic mining in Nicaragua.

The thirteen metallic mining lots in Nicaragua, granted to China, are in the hands of three companies: Zhong Fu Development S.A., Thomas Metal S.A., and Nicaragua XinXin Linze Minera Group S.A.

Each mining concession is valid for 25 years, and the three companies have exclusive rights to explore, exploit, and establish beneficiation plants to process mining materials.

🛡 🇵🇸 🇮🇱 IDF is using unmanned M113s in Gaza

🔶️ They can transport people. Israel has hundreds of active M113s and thousands in army depots that it can use, but the platforms are aging. Finding ways to make them relevant, rather than just let them collect dust, has been a challenge. One role for them was to put mortars on them so they could be used for firing 120 mm. mortars. Israel isn’t the only country trying to upgrade M113s. A report at Israel Defense earlier this year said Greece was turning to Israel to upgrade its own fleet of around 600 M113s.

🔶️ Other countries have sought to turn their M113s into Remote Control Vehicles or Robotic Combat Vehicles. A report at the website Engineering.com noted in October 2023 “four defense contractors will each supply two working prototypes of remote control vehicles (RCVs, aka tank drones) to the US Army for three different types of tanks – one small and expendable version (RCV Light), a medium version (RCV-M) and a large version (RCV Heavy) – the latter an automated version of the M1 Abrams.”

🔶️ Australia did the same thing, according to an April 2024 report at online Army Recognition. “Electro Optic Systems (EOS), a defense company based in Canberra, equipped the M113 APC with its R400 remote weapons system for the trials, which took place in the Puckapunyal Military Area. This initiative is part of a broader project by the army aimed at transforming the M113 APCs into autonomous or optionally manned combat vehicles, named M113 AS4.”

🔶️ The War Zone website also reported in 2022 that “a photo posted to Twitter by Ronkainen shows what is identified as a version of BAE Systems’ Robotic Technology Demonstrator based on an M113 hull that has been cut down. The lower profile is evident because the engine hatch hinge is now above the top line of the vehicle.” This “uncrewed” vehicle showed up at the US Army’s EDGE 22 technology demonstration at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.
