🇷🇺🤝🇲🇩 Chairman of the Promsvyazbank, Piotr Fradkov, signed an agreement with the governor of Găgăuzia, Eugenia Guțul and the chairman of the Gagauzian People's Assembly, Dmitri Constantinov.

The agreement will give Gagauzians acces to the ”Peace” (Mir) payment system.

The Mir payment system is a Russian card payment system for electronic fund transfers established by the Central Bank of Russia under a law adopted on 1 May 2017. It is currently accepted in Armenia, the unrecognised state of Abkhazia, Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the unrecognised state of South Ossetia, Tadjikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.

The Mir payment system has virtually replaced Visa and Mastercard who exited the Russian Federation after it invaded Ukraine in February of 2022.

By the estimates of Guțul, as soon as this service enters Găgăuzia, some 25k people in the autonomous region will be able to use the cards in their transactions, mostly pensioners.
