Official statement from the Base team

Dear Base Protocol community,

It is with deep regret that I must announce the temporarily closure of the Base Protocol. Despite our best efforts to build a welcoming and constructive environment, the ecosystem has unfortunately become too toxic and degenerative.

When we started this journey, our vision was to create a blockchain platform that empowered developers to build freely and pushed the boundaries of innovation. However, over time it became clear that greed and bad actors were overrunning the network.

Rampant scam projects, malicious exploits, and unethical behavior have flooded Base Protocol. There is no longer an environment where builders feel safe creating and true innovation can thrive. After extensive deliberation, we have decided that the only solution is to shut down the network completely.

Effective immediately, all services, exchanges, bridges and applications built on Base Protocol will be discontinued. We ask that all community members withdraw any remaining funds to private wallets. The network will be permanently deactivated within the next 72 hours.

This was an extremely difficult decision, but ultimately necessary. We remain optimistic that blockchain technology can still achieve its promise to enable positive change. However, Base Protocol has strayed too far from those founding ideals.

We want to thank all the users, developers, partners and team members who contributed to this project with good intentions. Your passion and dedication were inspiring. This outcome is unfortunate, but the experience will lead to better things ahead.
