Civilization comes at a cost.
The price is steep, all things good and mighty surrendered, virility, wildness, risk. It costs our Strength, our Courage, our Wisdom, our mastery of self and most of all our honor and nobility.

The Greek hero Orpheus was said to have been given his lyre by Apollo himself. Orpheus’s singing and playing were so beautiful that animals, trees and rocks moved about him in dance.

After his wife Eurydice was bitten by a snake and traversed to hades, Orpheus set out to win her back. His music so swayed Hades king of the underworld, that Eurydice was granted passage with him back to the world of the living.

The resonance of presence

Nowadays we are communicating though digital means through text, voice, email, or any other medium of connectivity we choose to talk with loved ones or friends.
It is a relatively simple concept to grasp yet it comes with a hefty price.
The impersonal feel of technology cannot compare with a tight hug, firm handshake, or a loving embrace.
The feeling of being in the presence of those you care deeply about and knowing you belong is worth more than any treasure.

Actual listening, understanding and having compassion for your folk and kin can make a world of difference in their lives.
Showing empathy to our folk is a piece of the puzzle that will help piece back together a splintered people.
It is not a weakness to show compassion and understanding, but should only be directed towards our own people.
Let the other tribes deal with their own. We have enough problems to deal with in restoring our people to where we should be.
