The State Duma has passed a law banning the extradition of foreigners serving in the Russian Armed Forces for criminal prosecution in its second and third (and final) readings. The proposed amendments are to Article 464 of the Criminal Code.
Russia will refuse to extradite foreigners and stateless persons to another country for criminal prosecution or execution of sentences if the request concerns those who served in the Russian Army or other military units, or who participated in combat.
Now, criminals from all over the world will be able to sign a contract with the Russian Armed Forces and avoid extradition to their home countries.
