Holding the CDC More Accountable

The COVID-19 pandemic has proven the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a deeply flawed agency. CDC bureaucrats have published confusing guidance, acted outside their legal authority, undermined efforts to reopen schools, and shockingly allowed political organizations to edit official guidance. Recent reporting regarding alleged data mining and tracking of Americans’ cell phone locations only adds to these concerns.

I led an effort this week, along with Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.), asking Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Select Subcommittee Chairman James Clyburn (D-S.C.) to hold an oversight hearing to examine the CDC’s many failures during the pandemic.

In addition to this hearing, I joined Congressman Jody Hice’s (R-Ga.) efforts to investigate the CDC’s reported tracking of location data from millions of Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If this report is true, the CDC committed gross violations of the 4th Amendment and must be held accountable.

Voter Signatures Put At Risk With Design Of Maricopa County Election Form

"The millions of Maricopa County voters signed up on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) to receive ballots by mail for the August primary election were recently mailed a 90-day pre-primary packet intended to ensure the Recorder’s Office has current addresses before sending out the ballots.

The 90-day AEVL packet also provides instructions for voters who are not registered as Democrat, Libertarian, or Republican on how to request a ballot for the Democratic or Republican primary (Libertarians have a closed primary).

The problem with the design is that it instructs voters to “fold or tear here” before returning the card. However, if a voter tears off the card it will end up in the U.S. Postal system with the voter’s signature in full display."

Senate Passes Hoffman’s Same Day Voter Registration Prohibition Bill

Arizona Sate Rep. Jake Hoffman’s election integrity bill, HB2237, which prohibits same day voter registration, is headed to Governor Doug Ducey’s desk after the Senate passed it on Tuesday.

The bill also makes registering a person to vote on election day and deeming the newly registered person eligible to vote in that election, a class 6 felony.

“Same day voter registration is one of the most toxic voter registration schemes employed by Democrats across the country,” Hoffman told the Arizona Daily Independent. “Today Arizona took a huge step in the fight for election integrity by banning this insecure and fraud-prone practice outright. Whether they’re DC Democrats like Pelosi and AOC or their equally as extreme Arizona counterparts like Fontes and the racist Katie Hobbs, the Arizona legislature made it clear today that undermining the integrity of our voter rolls will not be tolerated.”

Maricopa County withheld requested public documents for nearly seven months. These documents show 18,000 additional late ballots not previously reported. Several contests were decided by less than 20K votes, most notably the statewide presidential race that was decided by only 10,457. The 20,000 ballots recorded as incoming from the USPS on and after November 4 were of sufficient quantity to change the result of the 2020 General Election in Arizona
