Part 3 of Westcott & Hort Exposed: Heretick Westcott pushed unbiblical Baptismal Regeneration Salvationism Heresy for somebody to "truly live forever", receive "further grace", & said "all who have been placed in relation with God by baptism, and so made heirs of heaven conditionally". Westcott pushes baptism to live forever. He tried to backtrack/deny what he said but claimed Scripture does not give exception to baptismal regeration, and then backloading and adding baptism into when one get saved/is born again spiritually. The screenshot is from Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott, Volume 1, Page 160: https://archive.org/details/brookefosswestco00westuoft/page/160/mode/2up Acts 8:12 shows somebody can only be baptized in water, after they believe on the risen Lord Jesus Christ for salvation: "But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." Read Acts 8:36-38; Believe first, then be baptized

The Southern Baptist Convention, the "we aren't a denomination" denomination, is having an open rebellion among its members, with many women, queers and some men causing division for the SBC's handling of "gender issues," and for the stance leadership took affirming that women aren't qualified to be pastors according to scripture.
There are a lot of SBC members pointing fingers and blaming "woke" culture and feminism for this schism, but the root of the problem, like every problem, came from compromising on the word of God.
First they adopted modern translations such as the NIV. When the NIV began it's inevitable slide to heretical perversion, adding "gender neutral language" in 1984, the SBC issued a statement against it. But did not return to the tried and true KJB. And as modern versions became even more corrupt, they continued to decry it weakly, while clinging to the use of other modern versions, even going so far as drafting their own Bible translation in 2003, the Holman Christian Standard Bible. By 2016, the CSB had been revised with more "gender inclusive language."
The CSB now translates the term anthropos, a Greek word for βman,β in a gender-neutral form 151 times, rendering it βhuman,β βpeople,β and βones.β The previous edition had done this on occasion; the new revision adds almost 100 more instances. βMen of Israelβ becomes βfellow Israelites;β when discussing Jesusβs incarnation the βlikeness of menβ becomes βlikeness of humanity.β The CSB translates the term adelphoi, a Greek word for βbrotherβ in a gender-neutral form 106 times, often adding βsister.β βBrotherly loveβ is translated βlove as brothers and sisters.β
This is a group of churches that found the idea of putting βinerrancyβ in their 2000 statement of faith regarding the scriptures was a step too far, despite the resurgence of "conservatives" to their leadership.
They cast doubt on the word of God, introduced corrupt perversions, compromised with the world, drove out fundamentalists, and began to even change their stand on the gospel, adopting Calvinistic language and doctrine, "repent-of-your-sins" works salvation, and leaving behind the old time religion for a watered down, modernist version while claiming to be conservative traditionalists.
So it is no wonder there are a sizeable number of its congregation that are unsaved, haters of God, who deny that the inspired word of God is without error, and rejecting clear scripture on Biblical roles and qualifications for men and women in the church.
This is why standing on the rock of KJVO matters for English speaking churches. And why top-down governing bodies have no place in deciding what independent churches do, even if you don't call them denominations.

On Irenaeus (who quoted 1 John 5:7) his quote provides early evidence for 1 John 5:7 since he mentioned he personally knew Polycarp, who knew the apostle John [who wrote 1 John] & te apostles:
From Irenaeus' Against Heresies (in Latin: Contra Haereses/Adversus Haereses), Book 3, Chapter III (3):
But Polycarp also was not only instructed by apostles, and conversed with many who had seen Christ, but was also, by apostles in Asia, appointed bishop of the Church in Smyrna, whom I also saw in my early youth, for he tarried [on earth] a very long time, and, when a very old man, gloriously and most nobly suffering martyrdom,' departed this life, having always taught the things which he had learned from the apostles, and which the Church has handed down, and which alone are true. To these things all the Asiatic Churches testify, as do also those men who have succeeded Polycarp down to the present time, β a man who was of much greater weight, and a more stedfast witness of truth, than Valentinus, and Marcion, and the rest of the heretics. He it was who, coming to Rome in the time of Anicetus caused many to turn away from the aforesaid heretics to the Church of God, proclaiming that he had received this one and sole truth from the apostles, β that, namely, which is handed down by the Church. There are also those who heard from him that John, the disciple of the Lord, going to bathe at Ephesus, and perceiving Cerinthus within, rushed out of the bath-house without bathing, exclaiming, " Let us fly, lest even the bath-house fall down, because Cerinthus, the enemy of the truth, is within." And Polycarp himself replied to Marcion, who met him on one occasion, and said, "Dost thou know me ? " [Polycarp replied], "I do know thee, the first-born of Satan." Such was the horror which the apostles and their disciples had against holding even verbal communication with any corrupters of the truth; as Paul also says, "A man that is an heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject ; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

This is important since this links & connects back 1 John 5:7 from Irenaeus' quote of 1 John 5:7, to Polycarp, to the Apostle John, and is strong evidence of the Apostle John's authencity against critics' anti-1 John 5:7 claims. For John, who wrote 1 John 5:7, taught Polycarp, who then preached the Scriptures and taught Irenaeus:
And here's more on Irenaeus, Polycarp, and how this led to Irenaeus' quote of 1 John 5:7:
Irenaeus: "I ADJURE thee (1), who shalt transcribe this book,' by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by His glorious appearing, when He comes to judge the living and the dead, that thou compare what thou hast transcribed, and be careful to set it right according to this copy from which thou hast transcribed ; also, that thou in like manner copy down this adjuration, and insert it in the transcript.
...
(2)...For, while I was yet a boy, I saw thee in Lower Asia [Irenaeus is refering to Asia Minor] with Polycarp, distinguishing thyself in the royal court, and endeavouring to gain his approbation. For I have a more vivid recollection of what occurred at that time than of recent events (inasmuch as the experiences of childhood, keeping pace with the growth of the soul, become incorporated with it) ; so that I can even describe the place where the blessed Polycarp used to sit and discourse β his going out, too, and his coming in β his general mode of life and personal appearance, together with the discourses which he delivered to the people; also how he would speak of his familiar intercourse with John, and with the rest of those who had seen the Lord; and how he would call their words to remembrance. Whatsoever things he had heard from them respecting the Lord, both with regard to His miracles and His teaching, Polycarp having thus received [information] from the eye-witnesses of the Word of life, would recount them all in harmony with the Scriptures.

Part 2: (Continued) These things, through God's mercy which was upon me, I then listened to attentively, and treasured them up not on paper, but in my heart ; and I am continually, by God's grace, revolving these things accurately in my mind."
From (1) Eusebius [Hist. EccL / Church History] , Book 5, Chapter 20 (in this Eusebius copies from Irenaeus' works)
This fragment is quoted by Eusebius, Hist. EccL, v. 20. It occurred at the close of the lost treatise of Irenaeus entitled De Ogdonde.
(2) This interesting extract we also owe to Eusebius, who (ut sup (meaning ut supra in Latin: as [the] above [statement of 1)] ) took it from the work De Ogdoade, written after this former friend of Irenaeus had lapsed to Valentinianism. Florinus had previously held that God was the author of evil, which sentiment Irenaeus opposed in a treatise.

Polycarp stated he saw the Apostles and that they preached to him and the Philippians in his Epistle to the church at Philippi:
"9. I exhort you all therefore to be obedient unto the word of righteousness and to practise all endurance, which also ye saw with your own eyes in the blessed Ignatius and Zosimus and Rufus, yea and in others also who came from among yourselves, as well as in Paul himself and the rest of the Apostles; (Polycarp 9:1 on Page 180) LINK If then we entreat the Lord that He would forgive us, we also ought to forgive: for we are before the eyes of our Lord and God, and we must all stand at the judgment-seat of Christ, and all man must give an account of himself. Let us therefore so serve Him with fear and all reverence, as He himself gave commandment and the Apostles who preached the Gospel to us and the prophets who proclaimed beforehand the coming of our Lord ; being zealous as touching that which is good, abstaining from offences and from the false brethren and from them that bear the name of the Lord in hypocrisy, who lead foolish men astray.
