fwiw, weighing in on the current controversy— I am not a Nazi. Not every illiberal political movement is National Socialism or “Nazis” or Hitler or whatever.

I think that race is real and matters, I believe in traditional gender roles, I am against mass democracy, I am critical of organized foreign influence, skeptical of economic and technological progress…

My worldview is the mainstream, default position everywhere in all of human history except for the last thirty years in America and Western Europe.

And obviously I’m Catholic, but my point is to say that positions like collectivism or race/gender essentialism are mostly *universal* and not particular to a 20th century political movement.
