This afternoon I spoke with a NSW Senate candidate who ran in the 2022 Federal Election.
They told me the Australian Electoral Commission determines the winner of Senate seats by putting in the raw ballot data into a computer program which computes the preference flows!
I asked the candidate what is the computer program? They didn’t know!
I asked how is the ballot data entered into the computer program? They didn’t know!
I then asked them whether they or computer experts on their behalf are able to scrutinise the software? They didn’t think so!
I asked the candidate that given Trump 2020, why would they trust computer software run by the Australian Government? They said they weren’t 100% confident!
I suggested that given what happened to Whitlam in 1975, ASIO or the military could in theory give instructions to the AEC to rig the count in order to protect national security interests - especially if there was encouragement from our 5 eyes partners!
Does anyone have additional information about the AEC’s senate counting process? 🤔
