Welcome to St. Petersburgโ€™s Hermitage Museum! ๐Ÿ‘‘

The State Hermitage Museum is the second-largest art museum in the world and one of the main tourist attractions in Saint Petersburg, Russia ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ. Located between Neva River and Palace Square it is comprised of several historical buildings, the main of which is the Winter Palace - the former residence of Russian Emperors and Empresses.

The art collection of the Hermitage includes almost three million items, including one of the largest collections of Renaissance Italian and Baroque Dutch, Flemish, and French painters, and also archaeological findings from all over the world, Ancient Greek statues, Asian art and numismatic collection. In its halls you can see masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, El Greco, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Gainsborough and many other world famous artists.

โ˜๏ธ One estimate has it that you would need eleven years (โ—๏ธ) to view each exhibit on display for just one minute!

However, the Hermitage is more than an art museum. The Winter Palace offers a glimpse into the life at Russian imperial court๐Ÿคด๐Ÿ‘ธ. It is named so because in summer the court moved to another residence - Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo near Saint Petersburg.

โ˜ฆ๏ธ President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated Orthodox Christians and all Russian citizens celebrating Easter Sunday.

๐Ÿ’ฌ President Putin: Easter celebrations in our country have rich spiritual traditions which unite millions of people and are passed on from one generation to another, inspiring people to good deeds and aspirations.

It is important to note the constructive and fruitful work of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations aiming to preserve our immensely rich historical, cultural and spiritual legacy, to strengthen the institution of the family, to educate young people and to promote in society such enduring values and moral reference points as care for your neighbour, charity and compassion.

Pastors have always been together with the people. Today, amidst serious challenges, Christian religious organisations provide effective and selfless assistance to those in need of support and attention.
